One of our recent Honest Abe Log Homes Customers recently sent this letter to Honest Abe Log Homes President Josh Beasley about his family’s experience in building a wood home. He’s given us permission to share his thoughts.
I just wanted to touch base with you and share my experience with Honest Abe over the past couple of years. My wife and I decided to build a log home on our land several years back, and I spoke with Dan Smith (Sales Representative at Honest Abe’s Murfreesboro, Tenn., Sales Office) for the first time about four years prior to beginning our build. He was incredibly helpful as we went through the decision making process, even though he was aware that we weren’t planning to start construction for a few years. When we finally decided to begin construction in early 2015, our first call was to Dan. Ultimately, we decided to stick build our home and side it with your 12″ D-log siding inside and out. I realize that this type of order is not as common as a full log package and that my order would be smaller than your usual log home package. That being said, even though we only ordered about $20k worth of materials from you all to complete our home, Dan gave us the attention and help that we would have expected to receive if we were purchasing a million-dollar package.
This being our forever home on the family farm, naturally I had dozens and dozens of questions regarding your products and the maintenance of them over time. Dan and I spoke often (sometimes multiple times in the same day), and he always made clear that he was there to help us and to never hesitate to contact him, whether at the office or on his cell phone.
When we finally decided on a floor plan, we met with Dan and Melissa Copas (Honest Abe Designer) in Moss to have the plans drafted. Melissa was incredibly patient making subtle changes to the plans for us to accommodate all the features we wanted. She and I exchanged emails and phone calls until we had the perfect plan drawn up. Her prompt calls back, answers to questions, and overall service were excellent. I can’t say enough about how easy and stress free Dan and Melissa made this process.
Over the past year, we’ve learned first-hand how stressful a build can be. Dan was one of the few folks we dealt with who didn’t add to the stress. He always had an answer for any questions we had, and always quick to return calls and emails. I’m not aware of how your sales folks are compensated, but I can easily see how a sales person could put a $20k customer on the back burner behind a $200k customer. It’s very refreshing to know that I never once felt that way when dealing with Dan, and it means a lot to have gotten that kind of service.
We’ve recently completed our dream home, and couldn’t be happier with the result. We look forward to many years there and thank you so much for all the help!
