Jerry and Bobbie Sue Heppler welcomed guests into their new Honest Abe Log Home on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018, for a Winter Home Tour hosted by Honest Abe National Headquarters that also featured two other homes.

Here’s what the Hepplers have to say about their home:

It has always been a dream of ours to have a log home, and we wanted a home with a cathedral ceiling and a loft.

We liked the Honest Abe Eagledale Plan. We added a 16×20 bedroom to the back of the home.  We took the laundry room and half bath and made a full bathroom which gave us two full bathrooms. I also decided to bring the foundation to the outside of the porch and deck so we wouldn’t have to maintain under each of them.

Our home has a total of 1,850 square feet. The corners are dovetailed, and the 8×12 eastern pine logs are Genesis, which are flat on both sides.

Before we started I knew what we wanted. The decisions were pretty easy, therefore we wound up with exactly what we wanted.

Inez Price and the team at Honest Abe Log Homes were wonderful to work with.  They were all helpful in all aspects of the build. If we ever did it again I would go with Honest Abe!  They know their log homes!  Thanks Honest Abe…

Thanks to our contractor Ronnie Carter, which I can not say enough about him.  He is the best as far as I’m concerned. This man has put log cabins together for years, and he knows what he’s doing and does a fantastic job.  He is located in Lafeyette, Tennessee.

Our home is located in the country. We have neighbors nearby, which is a plus.  Also, we are only two miles from town (Gallatin, Tennessee), where there is anything you could possibly need.
