Sunrooms…the best ways to bring “happy” in your home.

It is a known fact that sunlight is a great way to put anyone in a great mood, but in the heat of summer or freezing winters, it is so hard to make yourself go outside and enjoy the sunshine. Not with a Sunroom or newly named “All Season’s” room. Wether you choose to build one that isn’t part of your conditioned space or one that is open to the rest of the home, heated and cooled all year long, either will make your days brighter and calm your soul as you relax in your sunroom.

When is the best time to build a sunroom, as an addition later or during the build of the original home?

Really it doesn’t matter, if it is in the budget, obviously go ahead and build it with the rest of the home. It will pay for itself in the long run, as a sunroom is a great way to add value to your home as well as square footage so you can hike the price up when it come to selling.  If you had rather wait a few years, that’s fine too, just set yourself up for future plans and build the bones of the sunroom and leave as a porch or deck if you can. This will keep the cost and time down for the future build.

Will the sunroom be an all-seasons room or strictly a sunroom with windows and no central heat?

Again, either will work fine, it just depends on your intended use. Now with split unit HVAC systems, they are a great way to heat and cool the space when you are using it all the time. They will typically cool ow or heat up quite quickly when you turn on the unit, so you don’t have to run more air duct from your central unit and that will be a money saver each month as well.

What kind of furniture should you choose?

Most homeowners decide to use a more of an outdoor type of furniture with comfy cushions when it comes to their sunrooms. Make it an oasis. Poofy pillows on the couch and chairs. Good books to read and most certainly a place for your coffee cup to land while you are reading. The plastic like wicker has come a long way and there are many options available.

With all this information, why would you not want a sunroom? You can see why so many people choose to invest in this beautiful home addition. Sunrooms enhance your happiness, can be used in a variety of different purposes, and have the potential to both earn you more money and save you money along the way!
